Just Sitting on A Stone

We're doing a lot more sitting than normal. Sitting and waiting. This reflection is about the angel who was chosen to sit on the stone of the tomb, to speak the good news to some women, and then go back to heaven.

So what do you do while just sitting during this confinement time? We too are on a special assignment, chosen and blameless in His sight, even if not in my own. I hope my life heralds that He is alive. My heart shouts it! He is alive and ready to walk us through any and all struggles -- every new thing that comes up, be it the Corona virus, or loss of job, or physical challenge. Actually -- any kind of challenge. You were chosen for this. It's His special assignment for you, your royal commission, an awesome privilege.

The Chosen Angel: Just Sitting on a Stone
Matthew 28:2-7, Mark 16:4-7, Luke 24:4-8

Why this chosen angel?
Sent from Heaven
On the first day of the week?
In the middle of a violent earthquake?

Why this chosen angel?
Sent from heaven to the tomb
To roll back the stone and open the tomb?
To sit on the stone covering the tomb
That had cradled the body of Jesus?

Why this chosen angel?
*why caps on Appearance, Clothes?*
Whose Appearance
Was like lightning!
            Whose Clothes
Were white as snow?

Why this chosen angel?
            He made the guards
Shake in fear!
            They became like dead men,
Falling on the ground!

Why this chosen angel?
Sent to speak to the women,
To encourage them not to be afraid.
            Sent to speak of Jesus,
To tell them he’s alive!

Why this chosen angel?
Sent to invite them into the tomb,
To come and see where His body was laid?
Then to send them forth quickly,
To tell the disciples such good news!
He has risen from the dead, is going ahead to Galilee and will meet you there.

Why this chosen angel?
Special assignment,
royal commission,
awesome privilege --
Just to sit on a stone? No!
But to proclaim He’s no longer in the tomb,
To Herald he’s Alive!

Why you today?
Special assignment,
royal commission,
                             awesome privilege --
To know that He came back for you,
                        Back from the grave itself.
To show His great love for you,
                        His forgiveness and His grace.
So now you know He’s not in the tomb,
You too can herald He’s alive!
